Reactive arthritis
treatment
Reactive
arthritis is termed as a systemic rheumatic disease. It is just
one of the many types of arthritis. This type of arthritis has
three symptoms inflammation of the joints, inflammation of the
eyes and inflammation of the genital, urinary, or
gastrointestinal systems. It is said that reactive arthritis
can be caused or triggered by bacterial infections although
giving the patient antibiotics does not alleviate the
symptoms.
Reactive arthritis
treatment
Reactive arthritis treatment
would vary depending on where the symptoms have shown up. Joint
inflammations are treated with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory
drugs or NSAIDs to manage the inflammation and the pain that
comes when the joints are swollen. Another reactive
arthritis treatment is by giving the patient a
Disease-Modifying Anti-Rheumatic Drug or DMARDs in severe
cases. Examples of DMARDs are sulfasalazine, methotrexate and
corticosteroids.
The purpose
of reactive arthritis treatment is to
determine which areas are affected with reactive arthritis and
to treat it as soon as possible. The affected area can be the
joints, the eyes and genitals or the urinary tract of a
patient.

Other
recommended treatments for reactive arthritis are a good
exercise routine, healthy diet, going to a physical therapist
and getting enough rest. If the reason why the patient won’t
exercise is because they feel pain in their joints then, the
more reason that they should maintain a daily exercise habit
because the sore joints that are afflicted with arthritis will
harden and affect their mobility if they won’t take measures to
ensure that their joints are flexible and would remain mobile
despite the pain that they are feeling. Despite any illness
keeping the body healthy would always do a patient a lot of
good, if the body is healthy, complications caused by the
reactive arthritis can be prevented or minimize at least. If
you eat plenty of vegetables, you would get a lot of vitamins
and anti-oxidants that would help in repairing any cell and
tissue damage, your immune system will be strengthened so that
your body will not easily succumbed to the effects of the
disease.
Having your
eyes checked up by a doctor regularly would help in diagnosing
the disease early and in treating the symptoms of reactive
arthritis early. Antibiotics can also be given to genital and
urinary tract infections.
Reactive arthritis treatment
can also be done the natural way like applying hot and cold
compress to the affected joints to lower the swelling and the
pain. A lot of people have already tried herbal remedies like
the horsetail, ginger, cayenne and boswellia. Homeopathy is
also considered as an effective cure by some reactive patients
that were able to find re4lief from their symptoms because of
trying out this possible treatment. Both herbal and homeopathic
recipes are sometimes not encouraged by doctors because it is
not effective for them.
It would be
understandable that people who are afflicted with this disease
are willing to try out any possible treatment that can
alleviate their suffering but it would be wise to be prudent at
times, make sure that the homeopath that you are turning to has
a good reputation and that the herbs and plants that you are
using to treat arthritis does not contain any toxic
substances.
