Juvenile rheumatoid arthritis
treatment
Juvenile
rheumatoid arthritis treatment
Arthritis
does not choose any age group. It can strike in random. It can
affect adults and children alike regardless of their age.
Lately, there has been a rise in the percentage of children
afflicted with the disease. Juvenile rheumatoid
arthritis treatment would include prescription drug,
the right diet and therapeutic exercises to manage and relieve
the symptoms.
Early
diagnosis should be done so that juvenile rheumatoid
arthritis treatment can be started to prevent the
disease from getting more severe. The reason for this treatment
is to minimize the inflammation and swelling of the joints,
prevent damage of the joints and bones of the children, manage
the pain and discomfort that it will bring and to help the
children get on with their daily activities despite having
juvenile arthritis.
Juvenile rheumatoid arthritis
treatment would also include eye care and dental care
unlike the rheumatoid arthritis found in adults. Inflammation
of the eyes would normally occur in children but this can be
easily detected by having frequent eye checkups. It is
usually young girls with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis that are
affected with chronic iridocyclitis; these would normally occur
if their blood would contain the protein called ANA.
Iridocyclitis is the inflammation of the iris. Even If there is
no sign of the iridocyclitis in the children affected with
juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, it would be advisable to have
the children visit their ophthalmologist regularly. An
ophthalmologist would just perform or conduct a simple and
short test which is painless called the slit lamp test to spot
any inflammation in the iris. Juvenile arthritic patients
would sometimes have limited jaw movement which could restrict
their brushing movements when they are brushing their teeth. If
this is the case the dentist could suggest some toothbrushes
that have special handles or have the children use electric
toothbrush instead. Arthritis may affect the temporomandibular
joint which is located in the jaw. If this joint is affected
then the children would have a hard time brushing their teeth
since they would feel pain and stiffness in
area.

Even if
they are children, juvenile rheumatoid arthritis
treatment would still include eating healthy foods
that are beneficial to their body. A simple change in the
children’s diet would significantly reduce the pain and
stiffness that they would be experiencing. Children who have
this affliction would normally lose their appetites which could
dangerously weaken their immune system and would affect the
body’s overall health. It would be good to entice the children
to eat the healthy foods by presenting it to them in a way that
they would find irresistible. Talking to children about
their health condition could also help them understand the need
for the change of diet.
Exercise
remains to be an integral part to help manage this disease. A
daily routine of therapeutic exercises would help the children
retain the flexibility of their joints and to maintain mobility
as well. It could help the children maintain strong muscles and
joints to ensure that they will be able to do all their daily
activities and routines.
